Equal Rights for LGBTQ People in Ghana
0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!
Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in Ghana face discrimination, violence and police harassment. A group of Ghanaian men seeking asylum in Winnipeg, led by Sulemana Abdulai, are asking for your support to raise awareness and to urge the Government of Canada to promote respect for human rights of all LGBTQ sexual minorities in Ghana.
On behalf of Mr. Sulemana Abdulai, Pride Winnipeg has reproduced an online version of his group's petition as follows:
-We the undersigned urge the Government of Ghana to give equal rights and freedoms to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and other sexual minorities in Ghana.
-We call upon the Government of Ghana to decriminalize same sex activity, in particular, to repeal section 104 and section 99 of the Ghana Criminal Code (1960) which makes same-sex sexual activity among males a serious crime.
-We ask the Government of Canada to use its diplomatic clout with the Government of Ghana to promote the respect for the human rights of all LGBTQ sexual minorities in Ghana.
