Encourage the government to review and impose standards for media publications

As the youth of today, it is our responsibility to create a better society for the youth of tomorrow. The perpetual problem of the media being non inclusive of different types of bodies, results in various mental health problems. This is detrimental to the adolescent cognitive development. They're young, therefore they are vulnerable to the unrealistic body standards set out by companies. This industry (consciously or unconsciously) encourages negative body image, which can sometimes lead to eating disorders and hatred to one's appearance. With a more diverse representation of the average woman, I believe that we could create a more body-positive, and confident nation. Unfortunately, these companies won't do anything unless they're forced to, which is why this petition is so important. We need to bring this matter to the attention of the government so that they can adapt appropriate standards to resolve this issue.
