In a repeat of June 3,2019 massacre, the Rapid Support Forces(RSF) under the command of Lt.Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo (known as Hemeti) are the main force behind the recent military  coup in Sudan and are using brute force, including live fire to disperse unarmed pro-democracy protesters.Since October 25,2021, 16 young protesters were killed and hundreds were wounded.The Sudanese police vehemently denied using live ammunition which confirms that RSF are responsible for these ongoing crimes.

The RSF (Janjaweed militias) has spread throughout Khartoum terrorizing the Sudanese people breaking into their homes and shooting whoever expresses  any resistance. The militiamen are specifically targeting women, storming into girls’s dormitories and committing heinous sex crimes, acts that are reminiscent of what happened in Darfur villages.

By all accounts, Hemeti’s Rapid Support Forces are a reconstituted version of the Janjaweed, which was  responsible for atrocities during the Darfur genocide.

We urge you to designate the RSF as a terrorist organization as they continue to terrorize the Sudanese people and are engaged in unlawful acts across the continent from smuggling gold, arms and drugs to fighting as stateless mercenaries.
