As the Corona Virus spreads, it becomes quite obvious that the "dirty" cruise ship industry and the movement  of people, that gather on these ships have a devastating effect on spreading disease and death throughout the world. There are too many people and not enough staff to keep the ships clean and if the ships are sanitized all the toxic cleaning byproducts end up either in the ocean or the landfill.

Besides the heavy metal that is burned in the engines, that either ends up in the air or the ocean, a lot of waste is chucked over board. No matter how you put it, the Cruise ships are one of the worlds biggest polluters.

All this non essential productivity could be avoided without any major impact on the economy! The world could even meet the greenhouse emission target, if you consider the environmental  damage and carbon footprint these companies leave behind. All the profit goes to the top 1% and everybody else has to pay for the mess left behind.

The Cruise Ship industry became a victim of their own success and now the whole planet is paying the price for it and in more than one way. The argument that Cruise ships create jobs and economic activity fails in the comparison to the overall global devastation caused by them. Who is sending the cleanup bill to these companies for polluting the oceans and making us sick!
