Call on Saudi Arabia to lift the blockade on Yemen

The people of Yemen have been caught in the middle of a war between the Saudi-led coalition and a rebel group for 4 years now. In an attempt to cripple the ability for the rebels to receive resources and supplies, a blockade was imposed on most of the routes by land, sea, and air. As a result, 22 million people are in need of serious humanitarian aid and are without access to food, drinkable water, or medical services. In addition, any organization attempting to provide support to the people of Yemen are being met with great difficulty with getting the needed supplies and resources on the ground. Consequently, innocent people are dying as a result of the war in Yemen and the blockade, with one of the world's worst cholera outbreaks being allowed to spread at an exponential rate without proper intervention. With over a million recorded cases between 2016-2017, the lack of medical services is only exacerbating the epidemic.
The solution is simple, Canada needs to stand behind the people of Yemen, those who have yet gone without a voice in the matter, and call on Saudi Arabia to lift the blockade and allow the much needed humanitarian aid to get to those that need it.
If the blockade were to be lifted, the cholera epidemic could be mitigated, the famine could end, and a genocide could be avoided.
