We, the students of Booker T. Washington High School, call for the removal of our current principal, Scott Rudes.

We are tired of broken promises. It is not what you planned to do, what you meant to do, it is what you should have done.

We have all gained the courage to speak out against the issues of racism and have received no justice in return. We will not wait until the summer is over. If we have summer homework, so do you.  We want change and we want it now.

Anyone who can blame students for a young man's death can hold racist students and teachers accountable for their actions.

Since he has shown us time and time again he is incapable of doing so and continues to deny us and our history, we no longer want him to represent our school.

Booker t. Washington is a historically black school, the only black school in all of Dallas County where we could come as we are. Unfortunately, that is not the case today. This school is a black school,  and should be treated as such.

No racial issues should be disregarded, but they are, they have been, and will continue to be until Scott Rudes is held accountable.

We will make our voices loud and clear. We will not ask for permission, we demand justice.

Privilege is allowing a white man to be principal of our school, and having no regard for any racial injustice.

We need a principal that values their students, and stands with them in times of need.

The next Principal of Booker T. Washington will be democratically elected by students and their families.
