Dowry
Dowry is a south Asian culture, simply when the bride or the bride’s family gives any sort of product to the groom, popularly known as ‘jahez’, dowry is when the brides' parents need to fit the requirements of the groom and his parents, for example, they are forced to give things such as tables, chairs, and furniture, some times fridges and freezers, etc. The girl's parents are forced to give these things at marriage depending if the groom doesn't want dowry or if the bride's parents just want to give gifts.
Dowry is forced on families, and not all families can afford dowry; poor it can put families in really hard places, dowry can send families into debt, they cannot afford things for themselves and yet have to somehow manage to get the dowry. Dowry shouldn't be forced on anyone regardless of their financial situation; we believe dowry is wrong and should end.
