As a Polish woman, I want to say it aloud: Russian soldiers are doing to Ukrainian women what Soviet soldiers were doing to Polish women.

The march of the Red Army through Poland heralded the end of the World War II. The thing is that most of them left memories not much better than the Nazis. As winners, they felt that they had the right to everything from the country they were liberating. Also to women. Soviet soldiers raped Polish women on a massive scale. They didn't spare anyone. NOBODY. Little girls, old ladies, pregnant women, and nuns. Even the women they liberated from concentration camps.

Mass rapes took place everywhere: on the streets of the city and in women's own homes. Many women were raped in their own bedrooms, kitchens, and courtyards. This was often happening in front of their husbands and children. Then usually women were killed or they were dying because of injuries during the rape. That was the way not only to bring suffering but also to humiliate the nation and through impregnation interrupt the Polish bloodline.

Nobody ever said that aloud. The world kept silent. Now history is repeating itself but this time these are not Soviet but Russian soldiers and these are not Polish but Ukrainian women.

Sign the petition to Criminal Court in The Hague to rush the prosecution of cases of rape in Ukraine.
