As a student enrolled in Halifax County  Public Schools my entire life , i’ve never experienced anything like this before . Students that i know personally & students that i’ve never heard in any trouble whatsoever have been expelled, suspended “10 days” , and have been targeted for events that they’ve had nothing to do with . Administration doesn’t even allow you to defend yourself without consequences if you were attacked or you’re being attacked ; and you also can’t wear a hood on a rainy day without being called a “thug”. As students our main goal is to graduate high school and move on with our adult lives , but at Halifax County High School many students are being stripped away from that opportunity while others that participated in those same events are still able to attend school and take part in the extracurricular activities that our school has available. Telling a student that they cannot return to school, attend prom , or participate in their favorite sport will literally shatter their dreams , of course they aren’t going to want to do anymore work , and no they aren’t going to have that positive attitude that administration wants them to have . Regardless of my position in our school system we are all equal , and I feel as though all students should have a fair chance to have the best high school experience!
