Why this petition matters

Started by Karl Jennings

Five women were assaulted by both Managerial and hourly employees at Tenneco Champion in Burlington Iowa. The Union and the company would do nothing to help these women. The Vice President of Ignition was informed after the HR dept. refused to help. He did nothing to help.  One woman who had been a victim of sexual assault prior to employment there. All she wanted was to have the employee who assaulted her moved to a different shift than hers. They promoted him instead. The general manager of assembly in the plant was the first to assault a woman on the shop floor, when he was a department supervisor. He was promoted instead. The HR Director protects this activity. The women are scared to come forward for fear of losing their job. Two would be willing if they were assured they would be helped. They came to me because they knew I would try to help them. For about five years I have been trying to get results. When I asked the plant manager what he was going to do about it , he said it was investigated, and found to be untrue. They won't provide any information as to who investigated, but we are pretty sure that it was HR Director. The last assault occurred two weeks ago. We want it to stop, but the union will not help. These women deserve justice. Will you help them?
