Why this petition matters

Started by angela maas

On May 24th 2 teachers and 19 students went to school to what they expected to be a “safe” environment. Those 19 students didn’t make it home that day for their afternoon snack or their outside playtime with their friends and those 2 teachers weren’t able to grade their most recent test or cut out the newest color sheet for the next day. All because of one individual who had no remorse and took it in his own hands when their lives should tragically end. Uvalde police officers who were supposed to protect and serve ran from danger and watched the tragedy all unfold all because they were scared. They were scared but he was one and they were dozens. They were scared but they had shields and guns when the kids didn’t. They sanitized their hands and played with their phones for 77 minutes! All the while these children were calling 911 asking when officers would arrive. Ask yourselves this. Have you had the conversation yet with your 7 year old about what she needs to do when a shooter shows up during movie time at her school? I have and she looked at me and said mommy what if I’m scared and my answer was mommy will be there even if it means taking that bullet for my child or other defenseless children! Those officers are still getting paid even though they stood there and listened to the gunshots they ran on camera away from the shooter. These kids need justice so they can Rest In Peace and these families deserve to know that these officers resign because they do not deserve the respect hero’s get! Those parents that day they were the hero’s. I’m asking for you to sign my petition so that I can get it to Texas and help those officers resign so that Uvalde can feel like home again..
