Justice for Taz, Puppy Stabbed and Dumped in Abilene, Texas

Justice for Taz, Puppy Stabbed and Dumped in Abilene, Texas

The Issue

On Sunday, January 22, 2012, the Abilene Police Department responded to an animal cruelty call on the 500 block of Sammons Street. Cheryl Ascol had witnessed her neighbor, Larry Dollins, Jr., stabbing his 14 week old female puppy, Taz. She pleaded with him to stop but he continued, stabbing Taz a total of 11 times before leaving her to die in a city trash container.

Taz's death-deserving crime? Dollins believed she had worms.

Against all odds, Taz survived. And contrary to what Dollins thought, she never had worms. A recovering Taz is now awaiting adoption through the Abilene Animal Shelter. And while her story is shaping up to have a happy ending, we want to make sure Dollins never has the chance to do this to again. By signing this petition, you are joining us in asking that, if found guilty, Dollins never be allowed to own another animal, and that he receive the harshest penalty available under law: 2 years confinement and a $10,000 fine.
