Problem Statement: Aadhaar Card is made mandatory for pensioners by the Banks to get pension. This problem is faced by most of the aged senior citizens of India !!

Although Supreme Court passed the judgement that Aadhaar Card is NOT MANDATORY but OPTIONAL/VOLUNTARY but still Banks are pressing citizens for Aadhaar Card saying it Mandatory.

NOTE: Some person may perceive that I am against Aadhaar Card implementation but this is not correct, I am not against Aadhaar; I am just trying to raise my voice to make life of elderly people easy - so that they can withdraw their pensions without any hindrance by Bank officials.

Bank officials argue that they got instructions to ask Aadhaar numbers from pensioners and link with their accounts THEN ONLY Bank will release pension. Even by providing other ID & Address proofs and Service ID cards, Banks do not agree to release pension without Aadhaar Card.

Also, Bank officials deny accepting their Life Certificates without Aadhaar Card.

This is truly a wrongful deed by Banks, as a matter of principle, Bank cannot stop pensioners to withdraw their pensions, Bank is not giving pension but it is the Central/State Government who is taking care of retired employees !!

Most of the 70+ aged pensioners are too old to go out and apply for Aadhaar Cards as a result of which they could not get their Aadhaar Cards made but the Bank officials consistently pressurise them to provide their Aadhaar numbers and in the absence of the same, Bank officials deny pensions to the old senior citizens.

The retired old citizens after trying to convince Bank officials and getting disappointed, eventually stop asking for their pensions which is their Legal Right. This is denial of their Fundamental Right and a very pity situation for them.

Ref. of my Grand Parents In Laws case:- This problem is faced by my old grand parents in law, they are denied pension and acceptance of life certificates. My grand mother in law (81 years old) is bedridden. My grand father in law (86 years old), need to stay with her all the time for her care therefore he also can't go and apply for Aadhaar Card. Even in this condition, somehow he once applied for Aadhaar Card but that was not made because of some unknown technical difficulties faced by UIDAI.

Therefore, I am writing this petition so that it can reach as many citizens of India as possible and the concerned Bank authorities and they Stop forcing elder pensioners for Aadhaar Card (when it is NOT Mandatory by Supreme Court order) and allow them to withdraw their pension smoothly and help these helpless retired old people who once served this country and now who are dependent only on their pensions for their survival.
