Why this petition matters

Started by Crystal Crafton

In 2018 I as a mother faced the worst nightmare any parent could face. My oldest son Layton (17) and my daughter Chelsie (15) was involved in an automobile accident. My son didn't make it and Chelsie suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury. Both passengers in a vehicle driven my a careless, negligent, irresponsible, DUI 19 year old. After a week long trial the driver was only sentenced to 5 years. 5 years for taking my son away from me, permanently disabling my daughter and taking the life of another 17 year old. No parent should bury a child, no parent should have to worry about what's going to happen and/or take care of their child that's disabled and will need life long care. No remorse was shown at court. Justice wasnt served!!! I'm asking everyone to please sign this petition to keep the driver in prison longer then 6 months. Parole hearing coming up in August. These kids deserve Justice and he needs to do the time.

About Layton. He was only 17 years old. A senior in highschool. Liner backer on the football team, JROTC cadet, participated in the mountain man March to honor fallen soldiers, and did community service. His plans after graduation was to attend University of Alabama to major in Aerospace Engineering. Layton was full of life, funny, a jokerster, loving, caring and loved/ lived life to the fullest.

About Chelsie. She was only 15 at the time of the accident. Chelsie was on the school cheer team, run track and cross country, places 5th in the state, and done gymnastics. Always willing to lend a hand and help in anyway. After high school she had planned on attend Vanderbilt University to major in nursing and become a life flight nurse. While in college she was planning on trying out and being a Titans cheerleader. Now she is wheelchair bound, can't walk, can't write, has severe tremors, has to have help to bathe, dress, eat and drink, and memory loss. She was basically a new born baby in a 15 years old's body.

Please help this grieving mother get justice for her kids. Help me keep the monster behind bars longer then 6 months on a 5 year sentence. 5 years isn't even fair for all he has taken away for all families involved.
