King, a 4 year-old German Shepherd, was shot to death on 11-19-2010, by a neighbor (an off-duty City of North Las Vegas Police officer), while being walked to the park by one of his owners in the City of Henderson.  King was shot for allegedly attacking a boy and his father (also an off-duty NLV police officer), HOWEVER, there was no bite and no injuries according to the police report.  The police report states the case status was “CLOSED” the very next day WITHOUT even getting a statement from the dog owner who didn’t speak English and disputed the version of events in the police report.  Many neighbors provided voluntary statements describing King as “very friendly, playful, and Big, but lovable.”  On January 5, 2011, Chief Chambers of the Henderson PD declined to re-open the investigation into the shooting of King.  We respectfully request the Henderson Mayor and City Council take steps necessary to re-open the investigation into King’s shooting and work to ensure a fair, thorough, and transparent investigation.
