Why this petition matters

Started by Kara Bird

My best friend of years and years, lost her battle with depression and took her life in December of 2021. Her school yearbook staff (Rapid City Central High School - In South Dakota) didn’t mention her name or even a single picture of her in the entire yearbook, not even in the “not pictured” section. Just because someone has died, doesn’t mean that they should be erased from existence. She deserved to have her name AND face in that book as much as ANYONE else. She is so dearly missed, and I will not stand to see her be dismissed in this way. Just because she’s not here to stand up for herself doesn’t mean there aren’t people willing to speak up about it. I started this petition so that the yearbook staff of Central High School can see how inconsiderate their actions were. I’m not asking for the book to be reprinted or anything like that. I’m asking for an apology to the parents and friends of Julia Louise Perry, who’s attended that high school for three years. I’m asking that they recognize their mistake and don’t make it again. It was blatantly disrespectful. Jules you are so loved, we will get justice for you.
