The alimony laws in our state seems to be one sided. 90% of the time the man will get hit with large amounts of money to pay. When child support is added, many men have to work two or more jobs just to meet their basis need. I know of  at least 20 men that I used to work with that was treated unfairly. One, the wife left and came back a few years later, took their children and asked for back child support which she was awarded. Another, was still living at home with his wife, and she asked for back child support and she got it while they were still married. I know of a man that divorced from his wife and was ordered to pay alimony and child support the rest of his natural life because he made the judge mad, I my self got the same treatment. I have had a lot of health issues and each time that I was out of work recovering, I was hit with a contempt of court charge signed off by the same judge who I filed a formal complaint on. As of now I have retired because of my health and is paying 60% of my pay to my ex in lifetime resolutions. I'm 65 years old and everyday I have to make a choice rather to eat or pay for the high cost of my meds. I am consistently getting threating phone calls from lawyers and I am struggling trying to pay my mortgage and car note. I'm told that I shouldn't have a savings account or a home in my name nor a reliable car, because the judge stated in court that she can't order money that I'm not getting. I' also is caught up in a system that takes away a man's civil and constitutional rights. The law is old and outdated. Now women make up 40% of the workforce and they hold many of the main jobs in government. All need to be treated the same with not only same pay for the same jobs, but the same treatment in our justice system. Injustice is wrong in any form. Weather it be because of color, gender, or how much money a person makes. My recommendations are: 1) before any child support awarded, there must be an DNA to prove that is the person child, 2) Alimony should be for a limited time,  no more than five years max. This will give the non-supporting spouse adequate time to adjust and get on their feet. This way, all can live a healthy life. 3) In the case of child support, visitation either supervised or un-supervised must be ordered. A child needs both parents.
