Justice for Sri Lankan ranger murdered by poacher

Justice for Sri Lankan ranger murdered by poacher
Why this petition matters

On the 23rd of April, a wildlife ranger working at the Gal-Oya National Park in the East of Sri Lanka was shot. Shot by a poacher. Investigations are underway, but we are afraid this will not be taken properly up due to the Co-Vid 19 issue gaining higher media coverage.
Dear Attorney General of Sri Lanka, Jayantha Chandrasiri Jayasuriya and the Justice department, We - the people of Sri Lanka ask of you that our wildlife and its rangers be protected. And the perpetrators be brought to maximum punishment under applicable law. Sri Lanka cannot afford to lose more of its precious wildlife. And under the present epidemic crisis, it has been scientifically proven how much of a consequence a population will face if it doesn't keep its wildlife and village life apart.
The murder of this officer is a disgrace to this nation. It is a murder of the first degree, and punishment should be meted out to the perpetrator accordingly. These people should not get away with murdering an officer, that was just doing his duty to the nation.
