Arm Alberta's Level 1 Community Peace Officers

Currently, Alberta Community Peace Officers receive similar training to Alberta Sheriffs at the Solicitor General Training Academy, do a similar job, such as conducting traffic stops, but are not given the same tools to defend themselves.
Community Peace Officers working in rural areas are especially affected by this as their only backup is 30 minutes to an hour away. This is an issue that shouldn't even be discussed, grant the Community Peace Officer program the ability to arm Level 1 Community Peace Officers who conduct traffic stops for moving violations with firearms, and at least issue TASERs for members of different classifications. This is a workplace safety issue. Even Brinks security are allowed to carry sidearms, why not sworn law enforcement officers in a provincial program?
Please sign this petition so that the Alberta Justice and Solicitor General minister must give further consideration to the safety of our front line members working every day to make Alberta a safer place to be.
