The Problem:, Indian road traffic has become notorious in last few years. Traffic Jams, Road rage, Vehicle collisions, Traffic accident deaths have increased in last few years. According to the Indian express article dated 11 sept 2017 " Road accidents in India, 2016: 17 deaths on roads every hour. A Report on Road Accidents in India 2016, published by Transport Research wing under Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India, has revealed that more people died on roads accidents in India last year, as compared to the number of deaths in 2015."
According to the Wikipedia " According to road traffic safety experts, the actual number of casualties may be higher than what is documented, as many traffic accidents go unreported. Moreover, victims who die sometime after the accident, a span of time which may vary from a few hours to several days, are not counted as car accident victims"
Proposed solution: To educate people and build awareness just like tobacco usage videos; effective short "traffic safety" videos should be screened in movie theaters. The videos should clearly demonstrate do's and don'ts. The video topics can be:
1) Interviews with accident victim or family. 2) Road Rage 3) Actual footage of accident happening. 4) Distracted driving. 5) DUI 6) How to help an accident victim. 7) What to do in case of emergency etc.
