Help free Daniel Walsh because his crimes were Self Defense
Jan. 23, 2019 in Kingsport Tennessee, Daniel Walsh killed Joshua Moyers. Walsh was living with his current girlfriend, Michelle Lacy, on the 1900 block of Latimer Street in the Bloomingdale community. While Walsh and Lacy were in their relationship, Walsh did everything for Michelle Lacy. Lacy used him throughout their entire time together. Lacy had warrants for her arrest in the state of Florida. Lacy made Walsh leave their house multiple times a day to buy her drugs to feed her addiction. Walsh’s attorney stated that there were over 100 messages from Lacy to Walsh in 10 days. During this time, Daniel Walsh had a friend named Joshua Moyers. Moyers was homeless and sleeping in his car, Since Moyers was a close friend to Walsh, Walsh let Moyers reside at Moyer’s house. One day, Lacy made Walsh go receive drugs and bring them back to her. As Walsh was getting Lacy drugs, Michelle Lacy and Joshua Moyers had sexual intercourse. Walsh found out, and did not go back home. Walsh was residing at his best friend’s house. From the day Lacy had sexual intercourse with Moyers to the day of the incident, Lacy messaged Walsh hundreds of times. Lacy sent texts like ‘’ I miss you so much” and ‘’ Please come back”. However, Walsh did not want to go back to the house. He even insisted on asking his best friend to go to Lacy’s house and bring his owned items back. However, Lacy did not let his friend receive his items and said, ‘’ Tell Daniel to come get his belongings himself”. On January 23, 2019, Walsh and his friend were driving down the road. Walsh noticed he did not see Moyer’s car in the driveway, and wanted to retrieve his belongings from Lacy’s home. Walsh wanted to go to the house when Moyers was not there so that there would not be an altercation. As Walsh’s friend stays in his truck, Walsh enters the home. When he opened the door, he noticed that no one seemed to be home. No one is in the kitchen or in the Living room. Walsh walked towards the bedroom door and opened it. As Walsh opened the bedroom door, he was struck in the face with a hammer. As Walsh was shocked after this attack, he walks to the door again, and sees a naked man, identified as Joshua Moyers. Moyers reached from behind the door and hit Walsh in the head again with the hammer. Walsh was aware that there was a shotgun in the bedroom. Walsh walked approximately 3.6 feet backwards into the living room. Walsh was familiar with where everything was , since he had lived in the house for years. Walsh reached into a drawer and grabbed a handgun. Walsh, in fear for his life, shot through the bedroom door 7 times. A pair of UPS workers reported the incident at 1:18 p.m. Near Vermont United Methodist Church, they were approached by a frantic woman, Michelle Lacy, who exclaimed that her boyfriend had been shot. Walsh made statements to detectives including he’d shot the pistol “until it wouldn’t fire any more rounds.” Walsh was charged with first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Walsh’s bond was set at $250,000. On Monday, Sept. 20.Walsh was sentenced to life in prison after a Sullivan County, Tennessee jury found him guilty of first-degree murder, among other charges, according to the district attorney’s office. Walsh was sentenced to life in prison even though it was a claim of self defense. Walsh is scheduled to reappear in Sullivan County Criminal Court on November 12.
