Reduce Vehicle Speed in Village on the Glen
0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!
The members of Village on the Glen Community are requesting Clark County to put in place measures to reduce the speed and volume of traffic through our neighborhood, specifically on 104th Way.
Village on the Glen is a newer community filled with 94 family homes and has members of the community with kids actively using our streets and sidewalks to get around. Although a great member base our neighborhood was built with poor traffic planning and has created a short cut route between St. Johns to 72nd.
104th way is used by many as a quick way around the obstacles surrounding our pie shaped area between 88th st to the south, 72nd to the east, and St. John’s to our west. 109th was built when the apartment complex, North Glen Villas, was built but the restrictions from 109th to St. Johns and back makes our 104th way an alternative and preferred route.
Two Speed tests have been conducted, although top speeds are alarming, the average speed was considered “reasonable.” This scares many in our neighborhood including the parents of the kids whose bus stops are on 104th and witness these top speed early in the morning. Additionally, the volume of traffic on 104th exceeds a reasonable number of users a community of our size should encounter. We have a small community to our west and with multiple exit points it should prove 104th is being used by more than our two communities.
The Village on the Glen Homeowners Association, who has started this petition, has started an awareness campaign with signs being deployed from June 15th – July 15th as the only measure we can take. Since the streets in our community are controlled by Clark County we are asking for Clark County to install devices, speed bumps or similar, and put a light on the corner of 109th St. and St. Johns Road to allow turning in both directions. This combined with active patrol ticketing speeders should eliminate our problem before a serious injury or death occurs due to the high traffic and people in the streets of our neighborhood.
Thank you for taking your time to support our petition, we are available for any feedback and questions at VOGHomeowners@gmail.com
