Because these rules are discriminative towards women.

“Contestants may not be married or pregnant. They must not have ever been married, not had a marriage annulled nor given birth to, or parented a child. The titleholders are also required to remain unmarried throughout their reign.”

To be honest,I don’t really support the notion of such competitions, on the grounds of objectifying superficial beauty, however,I do support the right of every woman to make that decision for herself, and whether or not she has been married or has a child, is irrelevant, and thoroughly primitive actually.

Being a young divorced mother does not make her a bad role model. Society pressures women to be mothers but punishes them when it’s under unconventional circumstances.

Motherhood should not be grounds to disallow a woman to compete in any competition. It’s discrimination, plain and simple. And it’s unjust.
