A hospital consultant who turned to child pornography to combat work stress has walked free from court.  Yes that’s right - walked free from court!!!! 335 Category A sex offences.  Category A child porn images is or is inclusive of:

WCategory A Images involving penetrative sexual activity and/or images involving sexual activity with an animal or sadism

Dr Richard Johnson, 54, from Halifax, was a highly regarded intensive care unit anaesthetist and scout leader until he mistakenly uploaded an indecent image of child onto a social media site.ore than 54,000 sexual

Of the category A images, 69 were videos. (Please think about what he was watching)!

When interviewed Johnson told police:”I accept that I have had a major problem with pornography, to the point I would class it as an addiction.”

He admitted viewing the images ‘on a daily basis’.

Johnson went on:”I use it almost as a stress buster, not a sexual matter, but to get a buzz!

Mitigating Gerald Hendron said:”He had been under tremendous work pressure and he used pornography as a release.”  Aren’t we all?

Sentencing judge, Recorder Jeremy Hill-Baker told Johnson:”The offence of possessing indecent images of children may be regarded by some as a victimless crime, that is a completely wrong approach.

“Each and every image is of a real human child being abused, and if there was not the demand for images of that kind, it is likely there would be less real abuse.

“You are an intelligent man with a high level of professional qualifications, and that in itself does not protect you from the lawful consequences of your criminal behaviour.”

Johnson was sentenced to six months imprisonment suspended for two years and ordered to complete 250 hours’ unpaid work for the community.

He must pay £500 court costs and a victim surcharge, his computers have been forfeit and he must sign the sex offenders register and be subject of a sexual harm prevention order for five years.

So why isn’t he in prison, he needs to be off our streets!  Our children must be protected.
