Yesterday the announcement was made by Taylor County Judge Executive Eddie Rogers and his magistrates that they are CLOSING the new Taylor County Animal Shelter in Campbellsvile, KY to the public. The shelter will no longer offer volunteer opportunites nor animals for adoption. It will opperate as a holding facility only. They site the reason, "that records requests by an attorney have cost the county $100,000.00 dollars".
This coming so shortly after the Taylor County Animal Shelter denied access to Taylor Made Rescue after complaints of the conditions of the shelter were made to the Judge Executives Office and Taylor County Animal Shelter via photo's of dog's awaiting adoption. After that decision a petition by a citizen of Taylor County was posted to the Judge Executive's Office on Taylor Made face book page and received over 1300 signatures in less than 30 hours.
We are in dismay that a records request for public records would cost Taylor County over $100,000.00 to produce?? These records the County Judge Executive spoke of are inquiries as to the direct care, adoption and management of dogs housed at the Taylor County Shelter.
Taylor Made Rescue and it's fellow Animal Rescue Groups and donors, have placed over 750 dogs and supplied thousands of dollars into the care of dogs housed at the Taylor County Animal Shelter in 2012 alone! Please watch our post, the Taylor County News Journal for updates.
There are many, many concerned citizens and Animal Rescue Groups rallying together after this shocking news, we need your help!
