To the Honorable Judge Angelos:

We the residents of Haverford Township, Lower Merion Township, and Marple Township respectfully request that this honorable Court take notice of our strong opposition to the four two-sided billboards (with the concern they may be digital) proposed by Bartowski Investment Group or Catalyst Experiential for 600 West Lancaster Avenue and 658 West Lancaster Avenue in Bryn Mawr, and 2040 West Chester Pike and 1157 West Chester Pike in Havertown, for the following reasons:

  • Brightly lit, billboards are specifically designed to attract and hold the attention of drivers, thereby promoting distracted driving and adversely affecting public safety on these heavily congested thoroughfares, all of which are utilized by school children, shoppers, pedestrians, the blind and the disabled, and workers using mass transportation;
  • Light pollution (light trespass) in the surrounding homes will affect residents' sleep quality and our quality of life in general.
  • Studies have shown billboards significantly decrease property values within a wide proximity to the structure.

We respectfully implore this honorable Court to keep these factors in mind as it decides this case, and therefore deny the request of Bartkowski and Catalyst.
