Why this petition matters

McAllen, TX

On January 27th, 2022 Rosendo Benitez was maliciously murdered in front of his home, protecting his family. You could always find Rosendo in the baseball fields coaching his grandchildren’s baseball and t-ball teams. He never turned away a neighbor in their time of need and has always been respected by all who knew him. These individuals stole his life and future memories from his family. He is leaving behind 8 grandchildren, some who will never experience the excitement of having their grandfather as a baseball coach. They will never get the experience of watching their grandfather jump and cheer with pride as they cross home plate.

Amador Sandoval, Sandra Edith Morales, Carlos Macias Mora, and another juvenile are the ones responsible for taking this man away from his family. These 4 are currently in custody and not only were some provided a low bond that is equivalent to an individual who has been charged with an assault, most have a criminal record. As of today, they have been charged with the murder of Rosendo. One of these individuals was also named the person of interest in a separate murder almost 2 weeks prior to this murder charge. Carlos Macias has prior charges for the use of an unauthorized vehicle. Amador Sandoval has prior charges of evading arrest for lesser crimes than murder. Sandra Morales has prior charges of 8 different counts of burglary of vehicles.

We are asking Judge Luis Singleterry and the State of Texas to higher their bond in an effort to keep these dangerous individuals out of the community. They dangerously post public pictures holding automatic weapons and semi automatic weapons on their social media, while displaying gang signs to show their support of the gang they represent. They had no regard for taking this man from his family. They felt no remorse following their actions and attempted to hide their crime by not coming forward. Please sign our petition to help keep these dangerous individuals out of the community, so no one else will experience the loss this family has endured. This family deserves justice, the community deserves protection! Please help us by signing this petition.
