The Independent reported that a nine-month-old boy, toddler Muhammad Mosa Khan, has been charged with planning a murder, threatening police and interfering with state affairs in Pakistan has been granted bail after appearing in court this week. The report says that the next trail has been filed for 12 April. Although the judge apparently noted the absurd nature of the charge, he does not have the powers to dismiss the case against him. Fox News reports that the judge could not dismiss the case as it was not under his jurisdiction.

The age of criminal responsibility in Pakistan is supposed to be 12-years-old. A child under the age of seven cannot be convicted of an offence under Pakistan’s penal code, The Independent reports.

Although the authorities have acted admirably by suspending Sub-Inspector Kashif Ahmed and Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has that said stern action would be taken against the police officials who registered the case, the toddler Muhammad Mosa Khan continues to face the prospect of a full-fledged trial for murder and its consequences.

The case must be quashed by the Pakistan courts forthwith.

1. I appeal to Judge Rafaqat Ali to please dismiss this case, and if it is not within his jurisdiction then to please refer it to a competent court for dismissal.

2. I appeal to the great people of Pakistan take up this case of gross violation of human rights and come out to save this poor child.

3. I appeal to Human Rights Watch to take note of this case for necessary action on their part.
