George is an 86 year old Korean-era war veteran who has been evicted from his home on West Street in Hatfield, Massachusetts. He is currently sleeping in his car with his dog and cat. After his story was spotlighted in the local paper, community members have come together to try to help get him back into his home.

On Monday March 8th, a Housing Court hearing before Judge Jonathan Kane resumes. This will determine whether George is able to get back to living inside his house, and under what conditions.

By signing this petition, we hope to show the judge that we want to help George stay in his home, and are willing assist with the efforts to make that happen.

Though there is not a simple situation, it is unacceptable for George to be living in his car. We have spoken to a close friend of George’s to make sure we understand the situation, and with that knowledge, we feel we can move forward with this petition as a good starting place.

Due to his age, his limited funds, and the risks of covid, his friends feel that now is not the time for a full cleanup. George and his friends are immediately hoping for George to be allowed back in his home, and to be given more time so that he can take a step by step approach to fixing this situation.
