Stop the Deportation of Kamiran Taymour!

Kamiran Taymour is an Ann Arbor community member, husband, and a father of three children at Allen Elementary and Tappan Middle School. He is a graduate of Ypsilanti High School. Kamiran fled the Saddam Hussein regime as a youth and lived in a refugee camp in Turkey for several years. His father was was imprisoned twice in Iraq and tortured by the Hussein regime. Finally the Taymour family managed to reach the U.S. in 1993.
Because Kamiran has converted to Christianity, his life would be in certain danger if he returns to Iraq. He was detained by ICE at his Ann Arbor home on Sunday, June 11th, during the raids that mainly targeted Iraqi immigrants in the metro Detroit area. He is currently being held in Youngstown, Ohio.
A federal judge recently halted the deportations of the more than 1,000 Iraqi immigrants from Detroit and cities nearby; Kamiran is one of the people whose deportation has been put on hold. Even though this is still a small victory against ICE's unjust actions, the people who had been detained are still in detention centers, stuck in limbo and still fighting for their right to stay in America as citizens. Kamiran is still being held in detention, waiting to find out if he will be able to continue to live his life or if he will be forced into the untenable danger of deportation.
This petition is just one part of his fight to help protect his freedom and his right to stay in Ann Arbor with his family, where his entire life is. Please sign the petition and join the call to Judge Jebson, demanding that Kamiran not be removed to Iraq and that he be allowed to become a lawful permanent resident.
