David Skeberdis was charged with hoarding 368 live birds, plus over 150 dead birds. Many were injured, all were malnourished, inbred, and breathing toxic mold. Though most of the birds were adopted into new homes, David claims to still have a dozen birds left in his condemned home. He has refused free offers of counseling. The judge in this case is currently considering dropping all charges. This means David will be highly likely to repeat his offenses, as he will not receive counseling or supervision. Birds do not appear, in this case, to be taken as seriously as pets such as dogs or cats. Birds do, however, feel pain, feel fear, and do not deserve abuse or neglect.
