PCC Shaun Wright was the cabinet member responsible for children's services in Rotherham from 2005 to 2010, in the middle of a period when, according to a report released recently, gang rapes, grooming, trafficking and other sexual exploitation on a wide scale was taking place.

He has refused to resign, despite calls for him to do so from Labour, the party he represents.

Joyce Thacker, Director of Children’s Services at Rotherham Council since 2008, said that she too intended to stay in her post - even though she had been told to consider her position by members of the Commons Home Affairs Select Committee.

A recent hearing was told both Ms. Thacker and Mr. Wright had read a report in 2006 and 2007 which named 100 potential victims of the abuse but failed to act.

Unless the people of Rotherham conduct their own referendum nothing will change, this is your chance as a neutral law abiding resident of Rotherham to make your view count.
