Joyce/Manning Street Intersection

Joyce/Manning Street Intersection
Why this petition matters

At around 2pm Saturday 13 August, a car lost control and crashed into the home on the corner of Joyce and Manning Street, Scarborough. Whilst it was miraculous that no one was injured in this incident, this is the second such accident in 5 years, with near misses being a daily occurrence.
Whilst major works have been done along Manning Street to slow the speed of traffic, nothing has been done to slow the traffic along Joyce, and the STOP sign from the intersection has been changed to a 'Give Way' sign.
The stretch of footpaths along Joyce Street are always busy with children and families, people walking their dogs, due to the location of Abbott Park, and the 'Scarborough Stairs'. Local residents are fearful that it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or killed, due to the speed and volume of traffic travelling along Joyce Street.
The City of Stirling has been contacted about revising the nature of the intersection and based on the information currently available, the intersection of Joyce and Manning Streets does not show as a high priority for funding at this stage.
Residents of the area would like the nature of the intersection to be reviewed, with the installation of traffic - slowing devices such as speed humps along Joyce Street, as well as some protection to be installed at the front of each of the properties surrounding the intersection, to protect the residents of these homes.
