As of October 4—a month and a half before Thanksgiving Break—the Boston College administration has yet to inform BC students, parents, faculty, and staff of its post-Thanksgiving plans—whether or not it will bring students back for in-person classes during the short 3 week period between Thanksgiving and winter holidays.

As the break nears, the negative impacts on community members—the results of the administration's inaction—grow. For lower income students, purchasing plane tickets with uncertainty is a source of inconvenience and anxiety. For other students who live in split housholds, knowing length of vacations is crucial for planning. For hourly workers at BC, no in-person classes could mean loss of wages.

In an email sent to the Boston College community on September 30, executive vice president Mike Lochhead encourage students to not travel during Columbus Day weekend. It would seem as reckless for the University to forget this advice and allow students to travel across the country, and then back to Boston.

Father Leahy, Ms. Moore, and the rest of the BC administration: notify us of post-Thanksgiving plans by Tuesday, October 13.

Start communicating.
