It is possible cnn caused trouble for its local sources, and also it represented itself as more important than local, better informed media

CNN has a duty to explain why they collaborated with Ben-Menashe. Did they not know that he had previously worked for Zimbabwean dictator Robert Mugabe, and had set up the country's opposition leader on a completely false treason charge (punishableby death)? That he had also worked for the Sudanese junta, which was guilty of atrocities against civilians? If CNN was looking for a real news story, why not start with Ben-Menashe himself, and probe why the Canadian govt has not been able (willing?) to take legal action against him?

I’m signing this because it is healthy that we are questioning the ethics and methods of reporters and news agencies. They are LITERALLY where people turn to learn about what is happening in the world. We need honest and transparent information.

We also need to start/continue to amplify the voices of journalists who are not white. For too long, white journalists have been put on a pedestal, their voices heard far and wide. I’m not saying we should silence white voices, but certainly we must make the effort to make everyone else’s voice just as loud and heard.

Clarissa Ward needs to report her stories in Myanmar accurately. She must vividly portray the atrocious cruelties committed by the military Junta.

It’s 2021. Journalism doesn’t work this way any more. Show some respect.
