Problem
Colorado law affects everyone. It can carry out a life sentence without the possibility of parole, simply for being at the scene where a murder happened.

Solution

WE NEED THIS TO BE RETROACTIVE!!!
We need to stand up and speak. Fight for our rights! Make Felony Murder a class 2 so that the sentence fits the crime. No one should do life if they didn't commit the crime they were charged with.

Personal story
Felony Murder
Our intention is to bring attention to felony murder as being unjust and unconstitutional. We are seeking supporters that are willing to get a better understanding of what felony murder actually is. Listen to real cases of individuals that have been in prison for many years (some for literally just being present at the scene of a felony) and support felony murder becoming a class 2 felony in Colorado.
What is felony murder? Felony murder is when a death results from the commission or attempted commission of certain felonies. This means that, due to the way the laws in Colorado have been altered, when an individual plans, premeditates and commits a brutal murder(s) he or she faces a class 1 felony. The exact same goes if a person(s) plan to commit a certain felony, their intentions strictly and specifically to commit that felony only, and an unplanned murder occurs, all individuals involved (even if their not present) also face a class 1 felony and exactly why we want felony murder to become a class 2 felony in Colorado.
Felony murder is currently a class 1 felony in Colorado. Class 1 felonies are only punishable by either death or life in prison without the possibility of parole. Class 2 felonies are punishable by a prison sentence ranging from 16 to 48 years.
The transition for felony murder to become a class 2 felony in Colorado is already being considered, to get a better understanding see "SB 17 -094" senate bill.
Here is an example of how felony murder as a Class 1 felony has been unjust, unfair, and absurd in Colorado: in 2005, Joshua Rosales, who was 21 years of age at the time , was charged with felony murder when he and a friend went to conduct a drug deal ( the state claims attempted robbery) either way, the friend shot a man ( who died from his gunshots) and Joshua's friend was later killed by the police in an unrelated shoot out. Joshua is currently serving a life sentence with no chance of Parole for being present when his friend murdered a man! In 2012 serial killer James Holmes planned and murdered 12 innocent people and injured many others in a gruesome shooting in a Colorado movie theater. James Holmes is currently serving numerous life sentences in prison for these mass murders!
For those of you that don't know how the judicial system works, 1 life sentence with no chance of parole or numerous life sentences with no chance of parole is one in the same equalling life without parole! This means that Joshua Rosales, a young man, that was present at the scene of an unplanned murder and James Holmes, a serial killer that PLANNED to kill 12 innocent people and injuring several others, both have recieved the same exact sentence! This is all because of the broad elements of felony murder. This is just one example of why felony murder should become a class 2 felony in Colorado.
Our objective is to get supporters from all over the United States and different parts of life to believe that felony murder as a class 1 felony is unconstitutional and are willing to stand up for this cause in pursuit of justice.
If you have friends or family incarcerated for felony murder, please allow this, support us and feel free to add to their story of unjustice! Also please feel free to share this with as many people as possible, and if you have any ideas or info Re: Felony Murder that can help or strengthen this cause, please add or contact someone .
