Brooke Henderson started this petition to Senator Josh Hawley and

In September 2018, the FBI sent all education institutions a warning about the dangers of EdTech! This was pre-Covid-19. at that time students were quickly being issued 1:1 Chromebooks, complete with a Google account and loaded with invasive data collection apps.

In the February 2020 the New Mexico attorney general sought out to find constitutes with evidence of harm from EdTech, this case was built around information and evidence that was discovered first in Missouri Schools and is a landmark case. Missouri needs to follow suit!

Jump forward to March 2020, the month schools failed to reopen due to the pandemic. Because there were no longer textbooks to send home with kids to continue learning; schools began purchasing apps at a record pace. In the largest preK-12 district in Missouri, over 180 apps were purchased to use with our children! Most apps are incredibly invasive and rarely vetted! This means over 180 separate Terms of Use agreement to gather our children’s most sensitive and personally identifiable information! This puts our student directly on a collision course for great harm. From phishing schemes, data breaches, to on-line predictors we must take action now

Missouri House Bill 1162 has been written to provide strong privacy laws to protect both educators and children! Let’s help get this crucial bill passed by signing this petition and sending a message to America, that Missouri protects our students!

Thank you
