Please sign this petition to support the call for the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust to scrap plans to further develop the Derwenthorpe Housing Estate with its Phase Five development.

The estate has been under construction now for over a decade which has caused a good deal of disruption to residents surrounding the site and increasingly the worst effects are being felt by those who are living on Derwenthorpe itself.

it is time to draw a line in the sand and say enough is enough, JRHT should be devoting it’s time and energy in sorting out the half finished state of many areas of Derwenthorpe and carrying out the extensive remediation works required rather than adding to problems by continuing to build further houses.

The Phase Five proposals would involve the removal of thousands of tons of ‘contaminated’ material from the site all via narrow Derwenthorpe roads and back out onto Fifth Avenue whose residents have suffered enough, followed by two years of construction and HGV movements.

The land in question would be far better off being utilised to expand the Field 9 Nature Area and creating some more public facilities.

Enough is enough, this petition calls for Paul Kissack and the JRHT to do the right thing for its residents on Derwenthorpe and for the residents in surrounding areas and scrap the Phase Five plans.
