As concerned citizens, we call on you, our elected representatives, to bring an immediate and permanent end to all U.S. military training flights above and around the Hawaiian island of Molokai. 

For myself and many other military veterans here on Molokai, seeing, but also hearing and feeling the vibrations from these aircraft flown at close range are constant triggering events, detrimental to both our mental and physical well being. 

For farmers and ranchers, there is undue stress brought with each flight, to the animals that are their livelihoods. 

For the endangered and threatened species that call Molokai and it's near shore waters home, there is unnecessary stress that could quite literally threaten the survival of their species. 

More broadly, the constant theft of peace and quiet from this entire rural community is unnecessary. 

No one within eyesight or earshot of these military training flights is free from the disturbance they cause every time they fly overhead, sometimes 3, 4, even 5 times in an afternoon, and sometimes late into the night.

No matter the reasons the military might give for these near-constant flights above Molokai, they are entirely unnecessary on a rural island that doesn't have any military bases. There is literally an entire ocean above which these pilots can train. 

All military flights should cease immediately but specifically, the Osprey flights must stop. The Osprey's have been flying over Molokai more and more often, and closer and closer to our homes. We shouldn't be able to see the pilots or feel the rumble from these massive machines as they shake our homes no different than an earthquake each time they fly by. 

Most importantly, pilots are not immune to making mistakes and even seasoned military pilots have had horrific, deadly accidents in Hawaii. 

The time to stop these unnecessary flights above and around Molokai is before, not after a terrible accident occurs.
