As an International Human Rights Advocate, I urge President Biden, Secretary of State Blinken, and U.S. Senator Menendez who is the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, to immediately intervene in the gross human rights violations in Egypt.

Egypt practices cruel and unusual punishments on innocent political prisoners and other citizens. In 2020, the Amnesty International Organization "urged the international community, including UN human rights bodies, to publicly call on the Egyptian authorities to immediately halt executions, and for members of the UN Human Rights Council to establish a monitoring and reporting mechanism on the Human Rights situation in Egypt". This has not occurred.

Egyptian citizens are repressed, and human rights activists are detained in jails, subject to unheard of abuses. The jails in Egypt make American prisons look like country clubs. Women, men, and teenagers alike are subject to physical, emotional, and sexual abuses. Prisoners are not given basic needs like a place to sleep, food to eat, water to drink, medications needed, lawyer visitations, or families allowed to visit their loved ones. In my role as an Advocate, I urge our government to act upon these offenses quickly as innocent prisoners are dying by the day in disgusting conditions. They deserve the right to live, to speedy and fair trials, and to be given their human rights.

As Nelson Mandela said, "Action without vision is only passing time, vision without action is merely day dreaming, but vision with action can change the world'. This is my desire, to change the Human Rights violations in Egypt. I care very much about these violations because as an American woman, I am a strong believer in democracy and freedom for all. Al Sisi and his regime violate all sorts of human rights. The United States gives Egypt billions of dollars every year in foreign aid, and Sisi must be held accountable for his inhuman acts of destruction, won ton killings, and constant torture of innocent political prisoners, and others.

The people of Egypt must be allowed to live with dignity, live safely, be able to quietly protest without the fear of being arrested and tortured. Al Sisi and his regime must be stopped now.
