I’m a mother of a son who is incarcerated during a covid out break in a prison system that is worse than a animal slaughter house many times I called to get information on my sons  health after I found out through 3rd persons my son had contracted covid 19  the anguish I felt  not knowing if my son would live or not  was unbearable I cried I begged wondering if I would ever see my son alive again I called the prison so many times during the day to know or in hopes some one would tell me my sons current condition w no help I got lied to every time by  whoever answered not knowing how your loved ones are doing during this out break  was heart crushing this petition would allow us  the family and spouses to ask and be told how our incarcerated loves ones are doing health wise and mentally. We should have that right the inmates should be able to call us or have the unit councler inform us of there conditions if they can’t speak if they are to ill to make the call regardless if there phone time has been taken from them phone privileges should be given back until full recovery it would keep family’s at ease also inmates would not stress so much wondering if there families know the conditions there in health wise if that information was available . The covid 19 out break was and is so severe among the prisons across the United States many died alone and with no family not even through  phone calls or via face time to console there loved one nearing end  nothing is certain with covid 19 no one is guaranteed  survival or a full recovery after having covid 19
