The residents of Essex Union and Hudson Counties are left to fend for themselves after Hurricane Ida. Some of these residents have lost everything. And the homes that they worked so hard to purchase and maintain have been destroyed by Hurricane Ida.

FEMA declaring these counties a Natural Disaster will allow residents to File their claim and potentially receive financial assistance amongst other programs from the  Federal Government.

This can save a lives, homes, wealth and equity.

With close to 1.4 Million people living in Essex and Union County. Why not add these Counties to the list for Federal Disaster relief? Does anyone know what the criteria was? We have people that have lost lives, homes and belongings of sentimental value. Your constituents have worked hard for these things. Not to mention these counties are already underserved and in need of help prior to Hurricane Ida. The affect that this can have long term will be devastating. I spoken to so many homeowners and business owners who have been impacted by Hurricane Ida it’s crucial that we get help from Washington. Our livelihoods and living conditions depend on it. We haven’t recovered from the impacts of COVID 19. Hurricane Ida just exacerbated issues that these counties were experiencing.
