Make the JCPS Student Handbook Available in Spanish

I, xxxx xxxx, a current Doss High School student in Louisville, Kentucky, petition the Jefferson County Board of Education to meet the needs of Spanish-speaking students by creating a Spanish version of the Jefferson County Public Schools Student Support and Behavior Intervention Handbook. Currently the handbook is available in English only, but the school district contains students who speak numerous other languages. It is very difficult for these students to learn their rights due to the language barrier, as well as their parents, who often due not read or understand English at all.
Opponents of my petition will mention the costs of creating a Spanish version of the JCPS Student Handbook, so this petition requests an online version of the current handbook in Spanish. In this way Spanish speaking students and their parents will be able to better understand their rights. Thank you for taking the time to read my petition.
