Jordan to sign the 1951 Refugee Convention
0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!
The 1951 Refugee Convention is an international treaty that talks about the status and treatment of refugees. It defines refugees as "people who were outside their country with a well-founded fear of persecution for one of five reasons: Nationality, Political Opinion, Religion, Membership of a particular social group, or Race" One of the obligations in the treaty allows refugees to work in the country of Asylum. Unfortunately, Jordan has not signed the treaty, meaning that refugees in Jordan are unable to work, making 93% of the refugees below the poverty line. Sign this petition in order to show King Abdullah that we care for the refugees' living conditions and that they shouldn't endure any more trauma than they already have.
