Air Quality and Odor Issues In Joplin, MO

Joplin is one of the most resilient communities in the United States. As a city that teeters on the brink of substantial growth, it is more important then ever before to address our air quality and odor issues. It seems that many in Joplin have simply given up and decided that a mixture of pet food smells, sulphur odor, rendering after affects, and other unique nasal sensory fails are a part of life in Joplin and the surrounding suburbs. In my discussions with many that I invite into our fair city to compete in athletic events, the question is fairly uniform: "What's that smell around here?" Beyond the truth that potential neighbors are factoring this into their decision about living here, one cannot help but wonder if there is a health risk associated with these airborne assailants. This petition is a collective voice to start a conversation in the city we love and have a hand in developing. We all have a say in this. It's our city.
