The residents in the area directly surrounding this park and wider community, seek any information on a timeframe for any forecast expenditure on upgrades (including but not limited) to;
-the play equipment,
-any installation of improved and additional park benches,
-play equipment edging,
-soft fall surfaces under play equipment,
-slight reduction in vegetation to allow sunlight through to assist the grass to grow.
After attending multiple parks in the surrounding area over the last few years since our young children were born, e.g.
-blackall -shepards bush
And the surrounding suburbs
The residents of greenwood surrounding George sears park have noted that in comparison to other parks in greenwood and parks In other surrounding suburbs, George sears park is very unpleasant, substantially inadequate and subsequently significantly underused as a result.
Yet Barridale park in the south east corner of Shepards bush reserve appears to have been the benefactor of substantial expenditure in recent times.
Having lived across the road and attending George sears over the years, my family and I often find ourselves collecting discarded food wrappers, soft drink containers, broken glass, alcohol containers and even syringes recently. Many of these discarded items are obviously highly dangerous to the health and safety of young children, and young families often find themselves either a) staying away from the park or b) on high alert watching what children are doing/playing with/stepping on at the park.
In its current state George sears park is not at all family friendly and hasn't been since we moved to the area in 2008.
Given that there has been nothing more than minimal Maintenace of this park over the past 9 years, and that the park was installed close to 12 years ago, we are very keen to find out when the next scheduled upgrade is to this park.
