Dr. Pervez Hoodbhoy, the Distinguished Professor of Physics and Mathematics at FCC-U, has been forced to resign by the administration at the university. This after the terms of his current contract were changed and he was told it would not be renewed. The official explanation given to him by the university was that he was failing to meet the rigorous criteria of the Academic Standards Committee. HAHAHAHA! 

I and thousands of other students who have had the honor of attending one of his classes can attest to the man's character and the dedication with he has gone about his duty, often doing over and above what was required of him. To question the credentials of a man whose list of academic achievements stretch longer than those of all other Professors at FCC-U combined is not only disrespectful, it is outrageous. In reality, Dr. Hoodbhoy is being singled out for speaking out against professorial negligence, academic mediocrity and departmental politics and for possessing basic human decency, academic integrity and a functioning moral compass.

This petition is addressed to the incoming Rector, Jonathan Addleton. By signing it, you are registering your protest and letting him know that by pressuring Professor Hoodbhoy into leaving, FCC-U is parting with the leading voice of sanity, science and secularism in this country. I am reminded of the indignant words that Emile Zola wrote in defense of an innocent man in another time and in a different country:

"I may be condemned here. The day will come when France will thank me for having helped to save her honor."
