Convince Ohio Officials to Protect Victims

Countless people are victims of domestic abuse. These victims are downgraded daily. They are sworn at. They are made to feel worthless. And most of all, they fear what small thing they will do next, if any, that will make their oppressor blow up at them again.
If you run an internet search, you will find an endless supply of articles, statistics and websites that show domestic violence, both physical and verbal, is on the rise in the United States.
What I want to accomplish is that the current code governing civil protection orders and well as general restraining orders is re-evaluated to include verbal and mental abuse. I want our lawmakers to consider the countless number of citizens who suffer daily to no end because they haven't ended up in the hospital yet. I want our officials to carefully consider the fact that whether physical, mental or verbal...abuse is abuse.
The problem with the currents laws for protection orders is that you can only obtain one if someone has already physically hurt you, or directly threatened physical harm, but not for mental or verbal abuse. I know this first hand from experience. But how can we, as victims, protect our self before our abuser puts us in the hospital? Who can we turn to? What law will provide us with a shield for verbal and mental abuse?
Today I ask you to sign this petition to bring the issue before us to Ohio Governor John Kasich as well as our Secretary of State Jon Husted.
