STOP Travelling Dolphin Shows!

Akhirnya! Sirkus keliling lumba-lumba resmi dilarang.

Ga banyak orangnya, paling cuma 10 orang.

Terimakasih KLHK, akhirnya suara kita didengar!

Tapi sekarang, beda. Hati mereka juga tersenyum. Karena mereka sudah bebas.

Finally! Travelling dolphin circus has been stopped.

I remember in 2012, me and the Jakarta Animal Aid Network (JAAN) went to protest one of travelling dolphin circuses. There were only 10 of us at that time. But that was the very beginning of our fight.

In the circus, dolphins that were supposed to be free in the wild, were forced to entertain people in a small pool. After that, they are put back in the water tank in the truck, travelling for hours to other cities. It blinds their eyes blind, damages their hearing, and shortens their life expectancy.

At that time, I could not imagine that this kind of activity still exists. And apparently, it only exists in Indonesia. From the beginning of this fight, JAAN never stopped.

They collected evidence, took pictures and advocated to the government. They invited and encouraged people like me, to talk about this in schools, television and start a petition.

I can't even believe it, HUNDRED THOUSANDS of you have signed and supported us, to entirely stop this activity.

5 February 2020, a historical date. Their permit is of date and KLHK decided not to extend the permit. They also guarantee that there will be NO MORE travelling dolphin circus.

Guys, this is the ending of travelling dolphin circuses around the world. We must keep our eyes open and prevent these kinds of activity. There are still dolphins trapped in permanent-stage circuses. So, we will continue our fight until all dolphins are free from any kind of circus.

But for now, congratulations, you already saved dolphins in Indonesia! For many years, we always say; “dolphins have smiley faces even though they are hurt inside”. But it is different now. They also smile inside. Because they are free.

Best,
