Petition Closed

On Tuesday October 27th Branch 11 displayed an awesome show of unity and sent a powerful message throughout the NALC (National Association of Letter Carriers) and to our respective representatives. Every member of Branch 11 needs to understand that this is only the beginning. The Postmaster General's proposal to close Post Offices, relax service standards, cut Saturday delivery and lay off 120,000 employees would destroy the Postal Service and find many of our members unemployed. We cannot sit still and allow this to happen. Our next step is to participate in the National Petition Drive.

Over the next several weeks, the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction (the super committee) will produce a plan to reduce the federal deficit. It may include President Obama's proposal to cut mail delivery to five days a week - a proposal many Republicans are pushing. We must fight to preserve six-day delivery, "Save America's Postal Service", and preserve our jobs! Every Branch across this country is charged with collecting signatures for petitions that will be delivered to members of Congress before they make a decision that will forever change the future of the Postal Service.

We, the undersigned, urge you to call on the members of the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction to include preservation of six-day mail delivery service in its recommendations to Congress this fall Please help protect one of America's most valued and trusted institutions.
